In the Rolex Submariner 5513 it was the dials that received the most changes over time.
Collectors over time have gradually given different names to this multitude of dials, both to distinguish their main features and to place them temporally.
Among the many names are the so-called “Gilt Minute Closed,” “ Gilt Minute Open,” “Pre-Comex,” “Maxi dial,” “Meter First,” “Serif or no Serif ”etc.
THANKS or SERIF means a small vertical or horizontal protuberance that can be found in the edges of the numbers, letters and indices printed on dials.
THANKS or SERIFs were specially made through graphic pads to give added refinement and value to the printing made on the dial.
Any THANKS must be identified primarily in the indices printed in rectangular form, indices that were used as the basis for the application of the luminescent material.

This 1970 Rolex Submariner 5513 mounts a particular dial with No SERIF graphics but SERIF indexes. Of the series there is always something to discover.

The 5513 has always been one of my favorite vintage Rolexes, especially if they have something a little different.
The watch is in excellent condition for being 54 years old with all parts coeval with the period of manufacture.
