This extraordinary watch, original throughout, has a wonderful patina of time that certainly makes it impressive and elegant.
I am always on the lookout for special things and when I can unearth super cool and especially “off the beaten path” vintage watches I am really pleased regardless of the price. This vintage Longines is a really unusual watch as were Grima’s Omegas or Pierre Cardin’s JLC just to be explained.

1972 Longines commissioned Sergé Manzon to make designer watches. Sergé began his career as a gem dealer and then became a film producer and finally a designer. He created furniture, jewelry, watches, clothes, and a whole range of fashion accessories. Manzon is a man of genius in terms of his design style.

At the Basel Fair in 1973 Longines presented the Serge Manzon Collection consisting of twenty different watches .
This model ref.5018 that I show you is one of its designs. A beautiful elegant jewel on the wrist, a powerful statement against convention. The Serge Manzon collection for Longines remains one of the most striking and unusual collections Longines has ever launched. The central case is a 925 silver ingot, gently curved to follow the contours of the wrist. It features a square-shaped dial aperture, in which we find a mirror dial with cross stripes. The shape and proportions of these watches are crazy like nothing else produced to date.

The strap is original with silver inserts; this is a truly fantastic watch. The movement is mechanical hand-wound cal 580 1 has been completely checked and overhauled.

When I find unusual pieces like this, with a history behind them and soprt everything in this price range, they go fast–this is a watch that sings.
